American Roulette
Casino Table GamesWithout question, online roulette is one of the most popular games at online casinos. Its popularity is thanks to its long and storied past, how easy the game is to pick up and the myriad of money making opportunities it offers. Generally there are three variants of the game, the French Roulette, European and American versions. Generally speaking the European Roulette is considered the base variant with the other two adding on from there. Here we’ll be breaking down the American variant, the different in wheels and ultimately what bets you can make and the subsequent payouts on those wagers.
Playing American Roulette
Like the other variants of online roulette, American roulette is all about accurately predicting where on the wheel the ball will land. But unlike the French and European versions, the American Roulette wheel has a total of 38 different slots. This is because the American wheel has both the 0 and the 00, double zero, slot. So the wheel consists of the numbers 1-36 in addition to the 0 and 00 slots.
To play online roulette you simply have to make a bet on where you think the ball will land. Afterwards the wheel is spun and once the ball finds its resting spot winning bets will be paid out while all others will be collected. Naturally there are a number of different bets you can make that offer different payouts depending on their difficulty. So what kind of bets can you make?
Types of Bets | American Roulette
The types of bets that you can make are broken down into two groups; inside bets and outside bets. But to make it easier, you really just need to understand that you can bet on a single number or on a group of numbers. Naturally the bets on a single number pay out the highest due to the high level of difficulty they offer. Inside bets are either bets on individual numbers or on a group of small numbers.
Subsequently outside bets are bets on a large group of numbers that don’t offer the best payout. The nomenclature derives from where the chip will be placed. With the small bets the chip will be placed inside the table while large bets will require the chip to be placed outside.
Inside Bets- Straight Up Bet:This is a bet on any single number, including 0 and 00. The chip is placed directly over the number.35:1 PAYOUT.
- Split Bet:A bet on two numbers. The chip is placed on the line between the two numbers you want.17:1 PAYOUT.
- Street Bet:A bet on all the numbers in a row. Rows are made up of three numbers going across horizontally. The chip is placed on the line of the number closest to the player. Variants include the bet on 0, 1, and 2 as well as 2, 3, and 00 and lastly 0, 2, and 00.11:1 PAYOUT.
- Corner Bet:A bet placed on 4 numbers. The chip is placed on the corner that all four numbers share.8:1 PAYOUT.
- Five Entry Bet:By placing your chip on the inner boundary line between one and 0, you can place a bet on the following 5 numbers; 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3.6:1 PAYOUT.
- Line Bet:Sort of like a double street bet. Here you are betting on two rows, which would be a bet on 6 numbers. The chip is placed on the corner the two rows share.5:1 PAYOUT.
- Column Bet:Like the street bet except here you bet on the column and not the row. This is a bet that covers all 12 numbers in a column. The chip is placed at the bottom of the column in the 2 to 1 box.2:1 PAYOUT.
- Dozen Bet:Another bet on a group of 12 numbers. But unlike the column bet, this will break the table up into three sections and allows you to take any one of those three. The three sections are broken into the 1st 12, 2nd 12 and 3rd 12 sections. The chip is placed in the box corresponding to the numbers you want.2:1 PAYOUT.
- Bet on Color:Here you simply are betting on the color the ball will land on and not any individual number. You place the chip inside the red or black box, depending on which color you want to bet on.1:1 PAYOUT.
- Bet on Odd/Even:Like betting on color except you’re betting on whether the ball will land in an even or odd number. The chip is placed inside either the even or odd box.1:1 PAYOUT.
- Bet on Low/High:Like the previous two except you’re betting on whether the ball will land on a low (1-18) number or high (19-36) number. Chip is placed inside the box corresponding to low or high numbers.1:1 PAYOUT.
