The odds favor Oklahoma, but Navy’s ability to cover the spread makes this a challenging bet. Oklahoma’s -165 moneyline suggests confidence in their roster, while Navy’s +3.5 spread highlights their resilience. The total points line of 43.5 could be enticing for UNDER bettors, given Navy’s tendency for lower-scoring games.

Jackson Arnold QB vs. Blake Horvath QB

Jackson Arnold has certainly had a good season as he has managed to complete 62.6% of his passes and throw for 1421 yards and 12 touchdowns. His performance though has not been consistent, as he has thrown three interceptions and has six. Arnold will have to create a rapport with his tight end, Bauer Sharp with whom he has not yet thrown a reception. His longest completion was 90 yards, he is a chance taker, and he will not be afraid to make big plays, but he will need to do better against Navy.

Meanwhile, Blake Horvath can boast of a 1,261 passer yard and a high efficiency with a passer rating of 168.4. If he is able to average 9.9 yards per throw, he is able to make average plays, and that gives him another chance to make a dual threat. The tandem of Wide Receiver Nathan Kent and Horvath promises potent chemistry, as Kent averages 21.1 yards a play. With the first line of Navy’s defense holding firm, Horvath will be ready to attack Oklahoma’s weaknesses.

Oklahoma’s Recent Struggles

Oklahoma started their bowl game with a win against Alabama but suffered losses against Missouri, LSU, and Mississippi – with their last five outings ending at a 2-3 note. Arnold is the leader of the team’s air corps at the moment, but they have not been doing well in the rushing department, with Tatum only finishing with a measly 272 yards for the whole season. Despite Bauer Sharp struggling with injuries through parts of the season, Oklahoma’s offensive lineup can show promise if they are able to fight through Navy’s strong defense.

Navy’s Momentum

After winning 31-13 against Army and 34-20 against East Carolina, the Midshipmen look to be in fine form. The highlight of their triple-option offense, which continues to baffle opponents, remains Eli Heidenreich’s 421 rushing yards. Navy’s defensive unit has also done quite well, especially in turnovers and turnovers as well as limiting scores. Even after a loss to Tulane 0-35, the Midshipmen have always been tough and well-structured in their football season of 9 – 3.

Oklahoma Sooners vs. Navy Midshipmen Betting Prediction

Considering Oklahoma’s recent struggles offensively and Navy’s discipline, this is expected to be a close adjustment than the bookmakers suggest. Oklahoma may be more athletically gifted but Navy’s consistent results and excellent record against the spread in 2024 gives them a higher chance of covering the spread. Should Oklahoma manage to contain the Commodores’ ground game, there is a possibility that they will win by the slimmest of margins.

With Navy able to shorten the game, that makes the UNDER at 43.5 on the board quite valuable for the bettors. On the other hand, Navy +3.5 looks like an interesting bet, especially if their defense is able to take advantage of gaps in Oklahoma’s offensive line.

Score Prediction: Oklahoma Sooners 21, Navy Midshipmen 20.
