While Phoenix has lost two straight matches against Portland, the Thunder is celebrating a thumping win over Milwaukee. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Devin Booker will lead the match featuring elite scorers on both ends of the court. With so much action on the line, can the Suns defy the odds and score a massive upset, or will OKC continue its reign at home? Check out our exclusive predictions article where we cover in-depth analysis on trends, stats and best bets for NBA.

When:Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 9:30 PM ET
Where:Paycom Center, Oklahoma City, OK
TV:ESPN
Stream:NBA League Pass

The Thunder enter this game as heavy favorites, reflecting their dominant season and near-impeccable home record (11-1 SU). The Suns, on the other hand, have struggled to cover the spread recently, going just 2-4 ATS in their last six games. With a high total of 225.5, bettors should consider OKC’s recent OVER trend (6 of last 7 games) and Phoenix’s tendency to hit the OVER in road matchups. If you’re looking for a safe bet, OKC to win outright is heavily juiced, but their spread at +100 offers some value.

Devin Booker (SG) vs. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (PG)

Devin Booker is the offensive leader for the Suns with an average of 26.1 PPG while playing 37.1 minutes a game. His traditional shot-making and increasing assist averages (6.7 APG) means he is among the fiercest scorers around the backend. He does, however, have to improve his defense, as Phoenix’s top guards have been very difficult to stop this season. He’s also had a high volume of turnovers (2.6 in a game) that show poor ball security. With an OKC team that averages 11.1 steals a game, he will need to be more cautious with the ball.

On the other side, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to perform, managing 32.5 PPG and a good shooting percentage. His strength to the hoop coupled with drawing fouls and hitting clutch shots makes him unguardable. On top of that, he has significantly stepped up his defense with an average of 2.0 SPG and 1.0 BPG. If he gets on the roll, the Suns will need to do all they can to try and slow him down because he can singlehandedly complicate the game for them.

Phoenix Suns in Desperate Need of Consistency

Phoenix has been inconsistent this season as demonstrated in their last five games (2-3 SU). The Suns suffered two losses against Portland, which is concerning for their playoff chase. They performed well against Golden State (130-105 win) but had issues against the Timberwolves and Clippers. The main problem has been on the defensive side, as they let over 120 points three times in their last five games. In order to stay competitive with OKC, they will need to improve defensively.

Oklahoma City Thunder Powerhouse at Home

OKC has been dominant, winning four of their last five games, including a statement victory over Milwaukee (125-96). Their only recent slip-up was against Golden State, but otherwise, they’ve been rolling, putting up 118+ points in four straight wins. The Thunder’s depth, defensive tenacity, and home-court advantage make them one of the toughest teams to beat. Their +12.5 spread may seem large, but given their recent form, it’s well within reach.

Phoenix Suns vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Betting Prediction

This seems to be a difficult challenge for Phoenix to overcome. The Suns have always had trouble with elite teams, and OKC has been a beast in their own arena. Even though Devin Booker’s offensive outburst is severe, the Thunder D and the speed of their offense is likely to eat up a Phoenix side that has had its fair share of struggle. SGA is playing MVP caliber basketball, and with the Thunder running things in the house, the Suns’ ability to keep it close is in serious doubt.

Betting wise, OKC’s spread at -12.5 is fair based on the last couple of results. The OVER 225.5 also looks solid for the same reasons. Should you want to focus on prop selections, SGA scoring props have been doing well, 30+, while Devin Booker assist props are good at 7+
