The Suns are considered favorites in this game, and for good reason. They have been crushing the Jazz in the most recent games, winning their last 9 in a row against Utah. The -8.5 spread is quite big, but it is not surprising considering Utah’s poor away form. Nonetheless, they did manage to get a win against Golden State which shows that they are not completely hopeless. Phoenix’s moneyline is not worth your investment, but backing them to cover the spread is certainly a smart option. The total points are at 231.5, which is pretty cool since Phoenix has hit the over in the last five games they played, and Utah has underperformed in five of their last seven games.
Lauri Markkanen (PF) vs. Devin Booker (SG)
Lauri Markkanen, who plays for Utah Jazz, is their best scorer and has ensured a decent season for the team. The forward is averaging 19.3 points and excels at both creating mismatches in the paint and floor spacing with his shooting. As for Markkanen, his rebounding stats are down from last season (6.2 RPG), and with his 1.7 assists per game, he does not seem to be helping his teammates much. Markkanen needs to be more effective against Phoenix. With Utah’s offense relying heavily on Markkanen’s scoring, he needs to deliver more.
For the Suns, Devin Booker is still their best player scoring 26 points while putting in 37 minutes every match. His self-shot creating ability paired with high passing abilities (6.6 APG) makes him one of the most menacing offensive players in the league. Although, he does have a tendency to get loose with the ball, causing him to miss out on 2.7 turnovers every game. Booker should have a great night against the Jazz considering he does not face top defensive perimeter players.
Utah Jazz’ Season of Struggles
The Jazz have won only two of their last 11 games, which explains why they are considered heavy underdogs. They broke a losing streak of four games with a closely contested 131-128 victory against the Golden State Warriors in their most recent game. Before this match, they lost to the Indiana Pacers and the Minnesota Timberwolves, with the latter defeat being handed by 25 points. Markkanen has proven to be instrumental in keeping some of the Jazz’s games competitive even with their inconsistent offensive output. The upcoming match against Phoenix will require the supporting cast to step up.
Phoenix Suns’ Struggles Despite Offensive Prowess
Phoenix is coming off a disappointing stretch, having lost four out of five games recently. Most recently, they got blown out to Oklahoma City 140-109 which really showcased their defensive problems. Perhaps most startling, Phoenix has a lionized offense that scores 113 PPG, but has been horrendous defensively surrendering 121+ in three out of their last five contests. Against the subsidiary teams, they are certain to win, especially with spectacular records at home. This should set them right before a bout with the weaker Jazz team.

Utah Jazz vs. Phoenix Suns Betting Prediction
Based on the latest patterns, backing Utah seems to be counterintuitive. This rivalry has always favored the Suns and their performance on the road falters, but they are still a different team at home. Phoenix’s offense should capitalize on Utah’s weak defense and while the Jazz might make it somewhat competitive, most likely they will, expect the Suns to runaway in the second half. It is best to place bets on points due to the trends surrounding Phoenix and the scoring bursts of Utah.
For those trimming the spread, Phoenix -8.5 is a reasonable pick, but remember their recent ATS woes. If you’re searching for value for these select matchups, prop bets with Devin Booker over his points or assists could be the sweet spot, vanquishing Utah’s defense will guarantee him wonderful numbers.
